Christmas at Edward House

Posted on 12th December 2019

December and the Christmas period is a really wonderfully busy and special time for our homes.

We will be positing a series of blogs about how our homes organise and celebrate Christmas on the run up to the big day!

Our first blog is from our manager at Edward House Residential Home in Buress Hill, West Sussex

We also want to make sure we show our appreciation for the team at this time of year. We organise a staff Christmas party of their choice and those working on that shift are given vouchers.

We arrange lots of resident and family events which the residents decide upon and also those entertainers who the residents have given positive feedback throughout the year. This takes a lot of advanced planning so our Leisure & Lifestyle Co-ordinators start this months ahead in advance.

Once we have a list we send out invitations and put up posters around the home so everyone knows what is going on. It is definitely important that the residents are involved in choosing and helping to organise their Christmas celebrations.

Next we get on with making sure the home is decorated and this is something that both the residents and staff really love to get involved in.

Music is really important in our home but even more at Christmas as listening to our favourite Christmas songs makes it even more special.

We also organise Christmas themed outings, in November we went to our local garden centre and make our own Christmas Decorations.

Christmas at Edward House is a special time of year and we always try to make it as special for all who live and work at the home each year.”
