Christmas at Whitstable Nursing Home

Posted on 16th December 2019

Here is the latest edition in our Christmas Blog series where we hear from the teams in our homes on how they make the festive period extra special for our residents.
Today's blog come from our Leisure and Lifestyle Co-ordinator Stacy from our Nursing Home, Whitstable Nursing Home.

" Christmas in Whitstable Nursing Home is always a fun affair.
As our home's Leisure and Lifestyle Co-ordinator I start the planning really early on in the year, by the end of October everything this is planned and booked. Being organised is really important. What is a really important part of my job is ensuring that everyone in our home is able to get involved in the planning and choices of events and activities.
Our festive calendar starts off on the 1st of December and you'll always here a bit of Shakin Steven's on the CD player.
Every year we have a Christmas Raffle which is supported by our families and staff with donations and buying tickets. I love to dance along to Band Aid with the residents and I get everyone involved in xmas jumper day, And my opinion it should be tinsel in the hair day every day.
It is also important to remember that Christmas can be lonely time and residents miss their loved ones who are no longer with us. I  try to make it as fun as possible and spend many a morning spending one to one time with the residents reminiscing on xmas’s they've had in the past.
I try to make the festive period and the actual days of Christmas really special for residents, their families and the staff.
"

Love Stacey (the Xmas fairy)
