Life at Nicholas James Care Homes

Activities

My mum was always treated with the utmost respect, dignity and love by each and every one of the staff, even during the times mum could be a little challenging as her dementia took hold. We were always made to feel so welcome and were kept informed at all times by the management about mums care.

Championing Dementia Awareness and Support

In each of our homes we elect a dedicated Dementia Champion to help bring awareness to the condition and spearhead our dementia-friendly activities, ensuring our homes are always at the forefront of dementia-friendly care.

We conduct several dementia-friendly activities that help stimulate residents and keep their cognitive function active such as quizzes, puzzles, and memory games. These activities are designed to engage the mind, promote social interaction, and provide a sense of achievement for our residents.

Person-Centred, Community Minded

When in care, it’s important to keep residents connected with their community to enhance their well-being, reduce feelings of loneliness and provide intergenerational connections for everyone involved.

Each of our homes are integrated into their local community with deep relationships with local schools, nurseries, parishes and charitable organisations such as The Royal British Legion and The Salvation Army.

Heartfelt Stories

Here at Nicholas James Care Homes, we celebrate the stories of the many individuals who choose to call our homes their own. We help residents take a trip down memory lane, re-visiting fond moments in history or their own memories by incorporating them into special, personalised activities.

I will be forever grateful to the wonderful staff of this care home. The care and kindness given to my husband and my family was exemplary. They gave us something we thought we would not ever have again and that was happy memories, how do you thank anyone for that kind of gift that will last our lifetimes? Thank you, to the manager and all the staff for the wonderful care you give to all residents and families.

I only have high praise for all the staff at Charles Lodge. My mother has only been there for three months, but already she is feeling at home. As a dementia resident, my mother requires a lot of reassurance and patience. The staff are extremely patient, kind and respectful towards her and all other residents and a huge reassurance to myself and family thank you.

From the very first time Mum set foot in the care home, they could not do enough for her. The manager and every one of her staff were amazing. The whole place had a friendly welcoming vibe to it. The care Mum got was the best we could wish for. Had a lovely room and she was very happy there and was treated with utmost respect and dignity. I can’t thank everyone enough for everything they did for not only her but also every visitor.

My husband has advanced Alzheimer’s. He is looked after with care, consideration and sympathy. The staff are very friendly towards me when I visit and answer any questions I might have. I am always informed when a doctor is called to him and fully informed of any results. I am very happy with the care he receives and would recommend Dale Mount to anyone looking for care for a loved one.

My husband needed respite care while I was in hospital for a hip operation. He enjoyed his stay so much, taking part in activities, friends to talk and kind, caring staff to look after him, that he decided he wanted to stay. That was three and a half years ago and he now regards Eastfield as his home. I visit regularly and am always warmly welcomed and I can rest assured he is receiving the very best of care.

Keeping Active

Proper health and fitness matters at any age, but especially for those in care. By keeping active, residents can stay healthy, improve their mental well-being, and retain mobility and physical function which all contribute to a more fulfilling and independent life.

We encourage residents to stay active by regularly bringing in licensed fitness providers to host classes and exercise sessions to keep everyone moving!
