Jill Hyland

Registered Manager

View Bio
I have worked in residential care since 2003, where I began my career as a care assistant and progressed throughout the company. I had completed my NVQS 2,3,4,and RMA before becoming a manager in 2010, and later completed my QCF level 5. I enjoy the daily challenges, but most of all, I get the greatest job satisfaction when I feel I've made someone's day no matter how big or small! Seeing our service users happy makes me happy, and having a team who consistently wants to give a high standard of care and embed a holistic person centred care approach makes it all possible.

Deputy Manager

I graduated as a general nurse in 2020, completing a one-year internship in Romania during my studies. After moving to the UK, I began working in a nursing home as a carer and gradually progressed through various roles including Senior Carer, Duty Manager, Liaison Manager, and Infection Control Lead. These experiences sparked my passion for leadership and inspired me to pursue a career in management within social care. I’m currently studying Business Administration and will graduate this July. I also hold an NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social Care, and my next step is a Master’s degree at LSBF London. My motivation comes from making a positive difference in the lives of those we care for and supporting teams to deliver the best possible standards. I’m dedicated, driven, and excited about the future in social care leadership.

I have worked in care since i was 18 years old, having started off in a care home where I then decided to do community care. I fell pregnant with my first child and after going on maternity leave, I decided I wanted to go back into care home environment to do nights to fit around my family life. I started worked in Alexander House, where I have now been for over 10 years. I started in Alexander House as a night care worker due to my partner working during the day and this fitted round our young children, later, I became a team leader! As my children grew, I too grew with the home. I started days when my children started school, and I eventually became Head of Care and then Deputy Manager. I have and NVQ level 2 and 3 and have completed CHAPS (Care Home Practitioner) training. I think of myself as a good leader and support the Registered Manager in ensuring the safety, well-being, and quality of care provided to residents is outstanding. Alexander House is my extended family and my second home!

Team Leader

Originally started out in childcare and after a long gap to raise my family and I needed a change, I applied to Alexander House for a cleaning job which I enjoyed, 10 years later I'm still there now as a Team leader and NVQ 3 in adult care. Every day is different, dementia and elderly care is now a passion it takes dedication, resilience and a commitment to make every life happy, dignified and part of a family. Other than having my own children it's the most rewarding role I've ever had.
I will be forever grateful to the wonderful staff of this care home. The care and kindness given to my husband and my family was exemplary. They gave us something we thought we would not ever have again and that was happy memories, how do you thank anyone for that kind of gift that will last our lifetimes? Thank you, to the manager and all the staff for the wonderful care you give to all residents and families.

Wife of Resident

I have never met such a kind, caring and considerate group of people. The care my mother received during her seven month stay at Alexander House was second to none. From the moment Mum arrived there to her final difficult days and hours, I have nothing but admiration for the staff in the way they treated not only our mum but us as a family too. The whole team should be applauded and I thank them all.
