Jo Allen

Registered Manager

View Bio
I have been working at Walmer Care for 10 years, I started as a health care assistant and have progressed until becoming the registered manager 2 years ago after completing my level 5. During my time at Walmer I have completed Dementia Care matters course, implementing person centred care and breaking down barriers within the home through staff training and environmental changes. I am motivated to improve our residents quality of life from the moment they get here and ensure they receive an outstanding level of care.

Wendy Squire

I have been working at Walmer Care Centre for 18 years, I started as a health care assistant, completed both NVQ 2 & 3 and progressed to Deputy manager. During this time I have also been given the opportunity to become a Dementia Care mapper to help enhance person centred care.

Karen Kirk

View Bio
I have been a team member at Walmer Care centre for over 20 years, during that time I have been supported and encouraged to develop professionally, currently doing my level 5. I am now the deputy manager which makes me feel valued, respected and appreciated. During my time here I have been instrumental in implementing the Gold standard framework, this leading to improving end of life care at the home.

Mark Skinner

Head Chef

View Bio
I have been with Walmer Care Centre for over 20 years, providing a balanced and nutritious diet for the residents. I have a City & Guilds qualification in food preparation and food safety from Canterbury Technical College and have also achieved a supervisory kitchen management qualification. I really enjoy a themed challenge but the most rewarding part is seeing our residents enjoy lovely home cooked food.

Collette Eldridge

Activity Co-ordinator

View Bio
I have been at Walmer Care Centre for 17 years, and have been providing activates at the home for 10 years, I have an NVQ2 in Health and social care and have completed both Napa Training and daily sparkle training to enable we to provide those activities in the best way possible. In 2016, I was the first person to win the Kent in Care award for putting people first. My hope is to provide person centred and life history driven activities for all our residents however far along their dementia journey they are.

The care provided for my mother is second to none. The staff are friendly and approachable. Any concerns raised are dealt with quickly. I have no hesitation in recommending this home. My mother loves it, good food, a comfortable environment, and excellent care.

Daughter of Resident

Loving caring polite staff. Clean building with a good atmosphere. Hard working staff that demonstrate tolerance and understanding of the residents. Rooms are clean and tidy. I always recommend the home to other members of the public.
