A Royal Surprise: Walmer Care Centre Residents Meet King Charles III in Deal, Kent
Today was a truly unforgettable day at Walmer Care Centre, as our residents and staff had the incredible honour of meeting His Majesty King Charles III during his visit to Deal, Kent.
What began as a joyful outing quickly turned into a once-in-a-lifetime moment. As the King was preparing to depart, he spotted our group waving their Union Jack flags with excitement. To everyone’s amazement, His Majesty paused, pointed to our group with a warm smile, and made his way over to greet us personally.
King Charles III shook hands with every resident, shared kind words, and asked how they were doing. He then turned to our care team and said, “Thank you, carers like you do a wonderful job.” It was a powerful and humbling moment—an acknowledgement of the dedication and compassion our staff bring to work each day.
Our residents were overjoyed by the experience, with smiles, laughter, and even a few happy tears. For many, it was a deeply meaningful moment and a memory they will treasure forever.
We are incredibly grateful to have had this opportunity and thankful for His Majesty’s kindness and recognition. This royal encounter has brought a sense of pride and joy to our home that we’ll carry with us for a long time.
