Collette Eldridge of Walmer Care Centre has been awarded the prestigious The Great British Care Awards Regional 2025 in the category of Ancillary Award

We are incredibly proud to share some wonderful news from Walmer Care Centre, where one of our own has been recognised for truly exceptional dedication. At this year’s Great British Care Awards for the South East region, Collette Eldridge was honoured with the award for Ancillary Worker of the Year — a remarkable achievement and one that reflects the heart she brings to her work every single day.

Collette has been part of our Walmer family since September 2007, when she first joined as a Healthcare Assistant. Over the years, her kindness, creativity, and natural ability to connect with others have allowed her to grow into her current role as Activities and Lifestyle Coordinator, a position where her passion truly shines.

Her commitment to continuous learning has shaped the meaningful experiences she creates for our residents. Collette has completed NVQ Level 2, NAPA training, Daily Sparkle dementia engagement training, and Pilgrims Hospice touch therapy, enabling her to bring comfort, stimulation, and joy into the lives of those she supports. Whether she is leading a group activity, offering gentle therapeutic support, or simply sharing a warm moment with a resident, she approaches everything with genuine care and compassion.

When asked what keeps her motivated, Collette shared a motto that perfectly captures her approach:
“Smiles are contagious — if you smile at them, they will smile back. Making a moment count, no matter how big or small.”
This simple belief guides the way she works and is felt by everyone around her.

Collette’s award is not only a personal accomplishment but also a reflection of the caring community within Walmer Care Centre. Her dedication inspires her colleagues, supports our families, and brings comfort and happiness to our residents each day. We are incredibly proud of her achievement and grateful for the warmth, positivity, and passion she brings to our home.

Congratulations, Collette — and thank you for all the moments, big and small, that you make meaningful.
