Nicholas James Care Homes Celebrates Two Wins at the Palliative & End of Life Care Awards 2026
We are incredibly proud to celebrate two outstanding achievements at the Palliative & End of Life Care Awards 2026, recognising the compassion, dedication, and person-centred care delivered across Nicholas James Care Homes.
Two of our incredible teams were honoured with national awards, highlighting the meaningful difference they make to the lives of residents and their families every day.
Collette Eldridge Wins The Ancillary Worker Award
At Walmer Care Centre, Collette Eldridge was named the winner of The Ancillary Worker Award, recognising her exceptional commitment to creating meaningful experiences and ensuring residents’ wishes remain at the heart of everything she does.
Collette is passionate about making every moment count. Whether helping residents fulfil lifelong wishes, creating opportunities for special memories, or organising thoughtful memorial services and life history celebrations, she brings warmth, dignity, and compassion to every aspect of her role. One particularly memorable moment saw Collette help a resident achieve her lifelong dream of meeting the King. It became a treasured memory for both the resident and her family, demonstrating how thoughtful, person-centred care can leave a lasting impact long after the moment has passed.
Her dedication reminds us that outstanding care is often found in the smallest acts of kindness and in always taking the time to understand what matters most to each individual.
Ellie and Sue Win The Bereavement Support Award
We are equally delighted to celebrate Ellie and Sue from Alexander House, who were announced as the winners of The Bereavement Support Award.
Their compassionate approach to supporting residents and families during end-of-life care has made an immeasurable difference to so many people. Through thoughtful communication, emotional support, and a deep commitment to honouring each person’s wishes, they ensure every resident is treated with dignity, respect, and genuine compassion. Their dedication extends beyond residents to supporting families through some of life’s most difficult moments. By creating an environment where people feel listened to, understood, and cared for, Ellie and Sue help provide comfort, reassurance, and lasting support when it is needed most.
Their commitment to bereavement training and compassionate communication has helped create a culture where kindness and understanding are at the heart of every interaction.
These two national awards are a reflection of the values that guide our organisation every day—diligence, responsibility, compassion, individuality, and transparency.
At Nicholas James Care Homes, we believe exceptional care is about more than meeting needs. It is about creating meaningful moments, respecting every individual’s wishes, supporting families with empathy, and ensuring every resident is treated with the dignity they deserve. We are incredibly proud of Collette, Ellie, and Sue for this well-deserved recognition. Their achievements reflect not only their own dedication but also the culture of kindness, teamwork, and person-centred care that exists across our homes.
Congratulations to all three on this fantastic national success. Their passion and commitment continue to make a lasting difference to the lives of so many people.
