We are incredibly proud to celebrate two fantastic winners from across Nicholas James Care Homes at the KICA Kent Care Awards 2026.
It was a wonderful evening of celebration, bringing together colleagues from across our homes and Head Office to recognise the dedication, compassion and hard work that goes into providing exceptional care every day.
This year, we were delighted to see two of our teams recognised with awards:
- Residential Care Team Award – Care Team, Walmer Care Centre
- Palliative Care Award – Sue Lyman, Alexander House
Winning the Residential Care Team Award is a wonderful recognition of the team at Walmer Care Centre and the care they provide every day. Behind great care is a team that works together, supports one another and always keeps residents at the heart of what they do. This award celebrates the commitment, teamwork and compassion shown by the Walmer team, and the positive difference they make to the lives of residents and their families.
We couldn’t be prouder of everyone at Walmer Care Centre. This award belongs to the whole team and is a lovely reflection of the care they provide day after day.
We were also incredibly proud to see Sue Lyman from Alexander House receive the Palliative Care Award. Sue is known for her kindness and compassion, but her approach to end-of-life care goes far beyond her role. She puts residents at the centre of everything she does, making sure they are treated with dignity, respect and individuality during an incredibly important stage of their lives.
Sue is also one of our Bereavement Champions, supporting residents, families and colleagues through difficult and emotional times. Her calm and caring approach provides reassurance when it is needed most, while her knowledge and willingness to support colleagues make her a valued member of the team. For Sue, palliative and end-of-life care is about much more than providing care. It is about listening, understanding what matters to each individual and making sure every person feels supported and valued.
This award is a wonderful recognition of the difference Sue makes to residents, families and colleagues at Alexander House.
The awards evening gave us the opportunity to come together, celebrate these achievements and share the moment with some of our wonderful Head Office colleagues. It was a lovely evening filled with celebration, laughter and plenty of pride. Most importantly, it gave us the chance to recognise the people who make such a difference across our homes every single day.
A huge congratulations to Sue, the Alexander House team and everyone at Walmer Care Centre. We are incredibly proud of you all and grateful for the compassion, dedication and care you bring to your work. These awards are a wonderful reminder that behind every great care home are people who genuinely care.
