After being successful at the Kent Care awards in October Natalie Lamoon and Collette Eldridge were finalists at the Great British Care Awards, London Finals.

The Gala evening held at the Marriott Hotel in London was a great way to acknowledge and celebrate the care industry and those dedicated individuals who work in the Social Care Sector.

We are pleased to announce that our two finalists, who had taken part in interviews and judging weeks before hand won their categories and now go through to the National Great British Care Awards Finals to be held in March in Birmingham.

Congratulations to Natalie Lamoon, Registered Manager of our Residential Home Alexander House in Dover, Kent who won the Dementia Care Award 2016.

Natalie is extremely proud of winning the award, especially in the category that she was nominated as she is passionate about dementia care and making a difference in the people’s lives she looks after. She said “seeing past the diagnoses of Dementia is so important in ensuing that we provide a meaningful and person centred level of care for our residents. The residents don’t live in our workplace we work in their home”.

Here is some of the judge’s feedback “Natalie’s quiet but confident nature obviously shines through in her work. Passionate about her role and her attitude and general calming makes her a worthy winner. Well done Natalie.”

Congratulations to Collette Eldridge, Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator at Walmer Care Centre in Deal, Kent who won the Putting People First Award 2016.

Collette is overwhelmed and extremely proud to have been recognised again for her contribution. She had this to say about her role as a Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator and why she loves her job “We try to provide a varied, interactive and fun activities for our service users. We find out as much as possible about each individual so we can incorporate their preferences in to our weekly schedule to make them person centred. The aim is to provide a happy and fulfilled environment for everyone; service users, staff and management”
