Walmer Care Centre’s Emma Neal Wins The New to Care Award at the Stars of Social Care Awards 2026

We are absolutely delighted to share some wonderful news from Walmer Care Centre. Our very own Emma Neal, Healthcare Assistant, has been named the winner of The New to Care Award at the Stars of Social Care Awards – Care Home Awards 2026. This is an incredible achievement and one that is thoroughly deserved.

The New to Care Award recognises individuals who have been working in a residential care setting for less than 18 months and who are already demonstrating exceptional passion, dedication, and commitment to improving the lives of others through their care.

Emma joined Walmer Care Centre in October 2025 as a Healthcare Assistant and has made a remarkable impact in a relatively short period of time. From the moment she joined the team, her compassion, positivity, and genuine commitment to residents have stood out. She has a natural ability to build meaningful relationships with those she supports, taking the time to get to know each resident as an individual. Whether offering reassurance, sharing a conversation, or supporting someone through their daily routine, Emma consistently delivers care with kindness, dignity, and respect.

Her approach perfectly reflects her own personal motivation for working in care: “My motivation to work in a care home comes from the opportunity to make a positive difference in people’s lives through person-centred care. I am passionate about treating each resident as an individual, respecting their choices, dignity, and independence, while providing compassionate support that enhances their quality of life.”

Those who work alongside Emma see this commitment every day. She approaches every task with enthusiasm, always looking for ways to support residents and contribute positively to life within the home. Her willingness to learn and develop is equally impressive, and she is currently working towards her NVQ Level 2 qualification as she continues to build her career in care.

What makes Emma’s achievement even more special is the difference she has already made to the people around her. Residents enjoy her warm and caring nature, families appreciate the support and reassurance she provides, and colleagues value her positive attitude and dedication to delivering outstanding care.

Winning this award is recognition not only of Emma’s hard work but also of the values she brings to her role every day. She embodies the compassion, respect, and person-centred approach that are at the heart of everything we strive to achieve at Walmer Care Centre.

Everyone across the Nicholas James Care Homes family is incredibly proud of Emma and this fantastic accomplishment. Congratulations, Emma. This award is a wonderful reflection of the difference you make each day, and we look forward to seeing all that you continue to achieve in your career in care.
